I recently got an email from Ruchir of TechnoMoney asking about a post I made called ‘Are you ready for 2008?’. I saw that he had linked back to some popular blogs that I am also a fan of and used his links for the post. No, I am no lawyer but I would think that links do not infringe on copywrite laws. I stated the source and modified the list for my fitting.
Email from TechnoMoney- I request you to remove the post immediately. The content is my copyright and you’re now allowed to reproduce it in any way without my permission.
The email was respectful and though I don’t see any issue with the post, I was going to comply to his wishes from one blogger to another. But TechnoMoney decided to make a post about how violated he felt by the blatant disregard for his work. Granted, I must admit his Best of the Sphere posts are great for readers to see what else is being talked about and I always see at least one site that had otherwise escaped my search for the best blogging sites.
The only difference between his and my post is that he removed links to TechnoMoney and inserted his instead.
Ruchir, stop your crying. I didn’t remove your links and add my own, all the links direct to other sites. Hence the name links. Imitation is the best form of flattery and there was NO malicious intent to harm you or your beautiful blog in any way. Links are just links. I’m not planning on copying your hard work and displaying it as my own. Can’t we all just get along?
