The 4 hour work week: Book review

I just finished one of the best books of the year. The 4-Hour work Week is written by Timothy Ferriss and is an entertaining and educational look at how a person can live their dreams and make a ton of dough in the process.
Timothy goes through a four step process of liberation and automation that is designed to make your life effective and not just efficient. Explaining how technology that is supposed to make your life easier really can without the hassle. There were many parts of the book that I took to heart like the chapter on elimination (Step 2) that goes over the numerous tasks most people do on a daily basis that need to be
removed. I never would have thought that checking email on a regular basis was a bad thing but understanding the enormous amount of time taken by responding to every message as it comes in instead of focusing on the most important tasks made a whole lot of sense.
If you are an employee or an employer and you have not taken the time to pick up this book and read the first chapter, you are doing yourself a major disservice. The 4-Hour work Week is a book anyone looking to add value to their lives should read.

I agree. I think this book affected the way I work more than any other business or motivational book I’ve ever read. Tim is a genius. A must read for anyone who wants to work less and live more.

Hey Koka – thanks for that book review! I think many people would be well served if they “designed” the life that they want to lead.

Koka – Very good points made in this review. 4HWW is an incredible resource to those of us who would like to free up more time, make more money and perhaps experience more that this world has to offer. I purchased 4HWW for my first long vacation outside of the US since I started my company in early 2006. While it provided me with some great reference information and continues to be a reference on a daily basis, I was able to prove to myself during my three weeks in Costa Rica late last year that all I really need to run my company is an internet connection. I was able to conduct all of my business through wifi, SMS and Skype while eating fresh mangos in the sun.
Although Tim can at times be rather full of himself, I don’t doubt his genius and methodology in managing work and life. Thanks again for sharing with your readers, as I believe we can all make small changes with big effect! Keep up the great work, Koka.
