By Koka Sexton • May 25th, 2008 • Category: Geek Break1. Tom Selleck was George Lucas’s original choice for the role but had to turn it down due to his commitment to the US TV series Magnum PI.
2. Indiana Jones was actually Indiana Smith until the first day of shooting.
3. The famous scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark where Indy shoots the man dramatically wielding a scimitar was improvised by Harrison Ford. It is rumoured he was suffering from piles and didn’t want to do the extended fight scene that was planned.

5. Renowned British wrestler and Auf Wiedersehen Pet star Pat Roach was killed twice in Raiders of the Lost Ark (as a Sherpa in the bar fight and as the Nazi pugilist who meets the wrong end of a propeller) and is pushed into a rock crusher in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

I really enjoyed all of the Indiana Jones films and am looking forward to the new one.
I can’t believe there is going to be another one. Look forward to it.
Bodybuilding’s last blog post..NO (nitric oxide) Supplement Review
On the part about the Famous Indy shoots the guy scene.
On Spielberg’s lifetime achievement award special he explained it a bit differently. He said the shot was supposed to be whipping the sword out of the guys hand. He had to film it in three tight shots, according to lucas. And he tried to come up with ways to film the scene with constrictions and couldn’t get it. So he decided to make it two shots and have Harrison just shoot the guy.
I mean, this is conjecture and hear say, but thats just what I heard, though it was Spielberg saying it.
you are wrong:
on #2 it was not the first day of shooting it was when George Lucas pitched the idea to Steven Spielberg on a beach.
# 3 is not rumored… it’s fact
# 5 he’s in last crusade too. and the guy by the luggage at the zeppelin
koddo’s on 10, i didn’t know that one
Also, in “The Temple of Doom,” the club in which the movie begins is called Club Obi Wan.
The name of the restaurant that Indy and Shortround escape from in the temple of doom is called OBIWAN
“. The famous scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark where Indy shoots the man dramatically wielding a scimitar was improvised by Harrison Ford. It is rumoured he was suffering from piles and didn’t want to do the extended fight scene that was planned.”
He had the runs, actually (I think). They were shooting somewhere hot (Tunisia, I believe, although I could be wrong) where the flies would land in your mouth for shade.
I’m pretty sure it’s all on IMDb for anyone interested.
photoshopped. gay.
Interesting Set of facts
Slightly conflicting with http://www.bubblegun.com/features/20indy.html
photoshopped. gay. XD lolz… the new one is gonna be great i wanna get my other ones back from my friend to see the cp30 and r2d2 who wudve thot?
Also when he falls into the ‘pit of dispair’ i think it’s called, when he’s face to face with a cobra in the older versions on vhs you could see the reflective glare off the glass pane that was between them in reality, but they were cleaned up when it went to dvd.
In the begining of the 2nd Indy movie, the Chinese Club where Indy and Willi leave is called Obi One Club.
There was in interview with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas one time,
Regarding the famous “Awww to hell with it I’ll just shoot him.” scene;
The Indiana Jonesenator, Harrison Ford(inator), had a bad local meal a day or two earlier and he had dysentery if I remember correctly. Or at least a wicked bad case of the squirts.
Either way he felt like a goat’s scrote when he was filming, and yes they had planned a big elaborate fight scene with whips and swords and punches and rolling around and what have you… But he was just too damn sick!
So they scratched their heads for a little while until Harrison himself came up with the idea, “Well, what if I just shoot the guy?” and the idea of the flailing, skilled swordsman having a big wank for 10 seconds before… KAPOW!!… Well it just made Spielberg laugh so much that he filmed it that way!
Harrison got the day off to “Chunder with Thunder” and Spielberg just shot pickups of extras and crap for the rest of the day.
I do not remember if it was in the special features on a DVD or in a making of feature on TV, but I have heard Spielberg and/or Lucas say this on a voice over with that scene playing in the background. I am 100% positive…
People should do some fact checking before making these lists.
People like you are making the world dumber, my friend. I’m sorry but its the sad truth.
Jesus read what other people have said, three different people have all said the thing about the Obi Wan club, and bendy, your a loser, no one cares where it happened, the point is that his name was changed, it doesnt matter whether its a rumor or a fact, and just because he’s in other scenes aswell doesnt make him wrong about him being in the ones listed. Also its spelt kudo’s not koddo’s.
I watched the trilogy only a couple of days ago, so I remember the citations well
Piles? that’s gross
If you like the old Indiana Jones films DO NOT go and see the new one. I’ve never felt more ripped off in my life. Between Starwars Episodes 1-3, the ridiculous changes to ET, and the new Indiana Jones film Lucas and Spielberg have ruined large segments of my childhood.
Also his whip was made out of Kangaroo hide
Dafydd, it’s “you’re” (you are) in the context you used it in; “you’re a loser”, not “your a loser”. In addition, “aswell” (as well) is two separate words in any case. The following word is missing an apostrophe. You also misused the verb “it” in your chosen context. It’s “it’s” (it is), not “its”. Moreover, it is neither “koddo’s” nor “kudo’s”. It’s “kudos”, as there is no such thing as “kudo” when using it in the above context, so “kudos” is not plural. No apostrophe. Your commas are also misplaced, so the structure of your grammar is incorrect.
Fail.
I do not have a problem with incorrect spelling and grammar. I have a problem with people who have a problem with incorrect spelling and grammar, and then attempt to correct others using incorrect spelling and grammar themselves.
bendy, you’re a bender
magnetictheory, well said.
to everyone who is getting irritated, suck it
magnetictheory, you forgot a correction.
its “spelled” not “spelt”… unless your british, according to the dictionary…
Magnetictheory, here are some errors you made:
Parenthetical speech is not considered proper grammar. You’re semi-colon is used improperly. Saying, “in the context you used it in” is awkwardly phrased. In your sentence, “In addition, “aswell” (as well) is two separate words in any case.”, “in addition” and “in any case” are redundant. “It’s “kudos”, as there is no such thing as “kudo” when using it in the above context, so “kudos” is not plural.” is a run-on sentence. “No apostrophe.” is an incomplete sentence.
You both fail!
To use your words,
“I do not have a problem with incorrect spelling and grammar. I have a problem with people who have a problem with incorrect spelling and grammar, and then attempt to correct others using incorrect spelling and grammar themselves.”
I was looking for Mark Seven bag originally used in WW2 by Britians. This is same of its kind used in all Indiana Jones Movies. Finally I ordered from http://indianajonesbag.com but not sure of strap included it, it is too short. Have someone idea to find some larger size? Any suggestion will be great help.
