213 Days as an Insider
I haven’t blogged much since I started my awesome job at InsideView. The typical 1st week post and then a little about the creation of social media university but that’s about all. Oh… I got to meet Brian Solis. (How could I forget that?) InsideView had an amazing end of year and they awarded the company a trip to Whistler Canada for a weekend ski trip. (I know, AWESOME right?!?)
The past 5112 hours have been a freight train in motion. Building a social media plan for the company was, or is a challenging task. It’s not recommended to setup and run multiple social media channels all at once. It’s mentioned in the comments along with several dozen other tips on social media on Small Business Trends. I agree, it’s not the smartest thing to do unless you can dedicate a lot of time to each of them and not let them die on the vine. But with proper metrics in place and a good plan, anything is possible.
Social Selling University has been doing very well. There have been 12 webinars with great guests like Jill Konrath, Anneke Seley, Barbra Giamanco and many others. There have been a handful of workshops from the bay area to Atlanta and we are planning more in the next few months. The Social Selling LinkedIn group is over 400 members and many great conversations have been going on around social media and sales. I setup a company Slideshare page to hold the Social Selling University content and shortly decided we should use it for all company related collateral.
There are a few other great plans in the works to make InsideView even more “social” but I’ll save those for another set of posts. Which brings me to some great analytics we just compiled for the Gartner Magic Quadrant. I’ve been using a social monitoring tool called Alterian SM2. It’s like the BMW of social monitoring. I’m able to track and record so many conversations online now that there are some days I have to spend a block of time just to look at the information and dissect it a hundred different ways. Really geeky I know.
306,720 minutes have passed and a lot has been accomplished with plans to do even more. My only obstacle so far has been that I haven’t been able to find away to clone myself and get twice the work done. It’s an open field and its very rewarding to see these communities coming together. It makes it better that the Marketing team is full of rockstars too. I have flashbacks to my time at Dantz Development often thinking about the talent in that office and where they have all ended up. Good times. Now it’s bed time.
