Support a school band and get stuff

I have been putting a lot of work into the Mayor of Concord site recently. I changed the theme a couple times and recently found one that looks good and is functional to my needs. I was contacted by Mike Mueller about putting a link up for a local high school’s fundraiser. I gladly did it since it’s nice to support the local community and I had some extra ad space available. I wanted to go a step further so I wrote something about the Ygnacio Valley Music Boosters with a video of the Marching Band.

Being extra creative, I thought I would put my affiliate skills at work and up the ante for the school program. Using my Amazon associates account I set up a special tag for the school. What this allows is for anyone that goes to Amazon from the Mayor of Concord post and buys something ANYTHING that percentage about 4% will be earmarked for the Ygnacio Valley Marching Band. The Music Booster group is having a luau in support for the group this weekend trying to raise money for the kids trip. and this affiliate link will be active until the end of the year. The kids trip is in March of 09 so we all have a chance to help out even if you’re not local to Concord California.

Why are you posting this?

Part of getting into the local blogging scene is to support the community. As a blogger, I have many tools at my disposal for this and one of those tools is a large network of readers on different sites I manage. Since I have been spending a lot of time on the new site and made mention of making money online by starting a local blog, I wanted to show that it’s not always about personal gain but helping others achieve their goals as well.
